In the beginning, with a small studio (called the Temple) and a small fridge (called fridge) for our beers, we started a band from scratch adding members as we went. Our dream, just like many before us and I am sure more to come after, was beginning to unfold. We developed like a puzzle, with all the right pieces coming together for a big powerful picture. Each member brought to the Temple a new view of our project and the next head (member). Hence TEMPLE OF HEADS was born.
After one year of hard work as a cohesive group we decided to take ourselves to the next level; our first music production. Angel had met a producer in New York in November of 2004 and told the band about him. We started sending emails to this producer with a preview of our music but nothing happened right away. One day he answered our emails and we started talking about the band, our music, our concept of being a band, our history as a band and he listened to all our music and I mean all of it. He must have liked what he heard because a few months later, we had chosen songs and were preparing for a trip to Hollywood, California to start work with Producer Mark Wolfson and Engineer Neil Citron at Track Record Studio and later Scream Studios.
Once we got there we thought it was going to be easy, we had done our homework, prepared our songs, rehearsed 'till we were blue in the face, we thought we had made it! But little did we know that there was a lot more hard work involved and a lot of rethinking about the process. Mark had told us that they were doing some re-writes and wanted to meet before the sessions to go over the changes. If we didn’t like what we heard we would go ahead with the original songs as presented. After hearing the new song updates we knew this was going to be a special project, a lot more work and at the same time it would be fun. We learned a lot about making records, writing songs and the business of music.
We had Gregg Gerson playing drums on our EP and we were hearing our music grow from what it had been and right before our eyes, in short order, watched how Mark and Neil worked with us to mold our songs into what you are hearing now.
Well, we finished the recording our EP and headed back to our home town of San Juan Puerto Rico, tired and with every bit of creative energy now on our record. We thought we could rest easy for the moment but back at the Temple, standing there we now see music, records and our future in a whole new way. Our little studio is the beginning of big things to come. The work has just started and we are up for the challenge.
Now we are getting into rehearsals and making our show a memorable one with Mark and Neil leading the way. Soon we’ll be on the road with our new music and will have the best time of our lives. Thanks to all of those people that made this happen and supported us.
Temple of Heads is on it’s way . . . we’ll be in your home town soon.
